The route begins from the entrance of MacLehose Trail - Section 4 at Sai Sha Road. Walk along the trail until you reach the distance post M073, where it soon leads to a bamboo grove with a martial arts-like ambience. The tall and dense bamboos cover even the top of the trail forming a “bamboo tunnel”, which is an excellent photo taking spot. What’s next? A fitness challenge. Accomplish it by climbing up approximately 555 metres and reward yourself with the stunning view of Yim Tin Tsai and Kau Sai Chau.
As you continue along the trail, the expansive Ngong Ping Plateau comes into view. Here, the landscape transforms with ever-changing colours as the seasons shift. Before going to Ngong Ping, be sure to venture a bit further to the Shek Lung Tsai Rock Cluster. Don’t miss the opportunity to closely examine the giant boulders sculpted by millions of years of weathering. Standing at the lookout at Ngong Ping on the vast Plateau, you are treated with an extraordinary vista – islands stretched out before you, reaching from Sai Kung Town to Port Shelter. In the distance, you can even see the High Island West Dam, Sharp Island and Kau Sai Chau. After passing Ngong Ping Plateau, walk along the Ma On Shan Country Trail towards Tai Shui Tseng, which is the endpoint.
