To reach the Biu Tsim Kok Viewing Point from the Geopark Monument, follow the circular sightseeing trail that leads uphill around Biu Tsim Kok, a hill next to the East Dam. At the hilltop viewing point, you can enjoy the stunning views of the whole site of the ancient caldera, spanning the Ung Kong Group and Ninepin Group, as well as the picturesque High Island Reservoir and Long Ke Wan.
The Ung Kong Group and Ninepin Group are core distribution zones of hexagonal rock columns in Hong Kong. The shores are rimmed with precipitous cliffs and rock columns which are well exposed with their distinct hexagonal form, forming a wide range of coastal erosion landforms and breathtaking vistas.
Long Ke Wan is on the left of Biu Tsim Kok Viewing Point and is renowned for its beach with clear water and fine sand. The original rock formations in the area were relatively fragile and prone to weathering. Wind and stream carried sand and gravel to the lowlands, where they eventually washed into the sea. On the other hand, waves continually pushed sand and gravel back to the shore, leading to the formation of sandy beaches in the inner bays of the coastline.
There is very little vegetation along the trail. Please be mindful of sun protection and weather conditions while hiking.
