Po Pin Chau was once connected to Fa Shan, which is at the east of Po Pin Chau. Over time, the relentless pounding of waves caused significant erosion, leading to the formation of a sea cave. As erosion continued, the cave expanded and eventually cut through Fa Shan to form a sea arch. The arch subsequently collapsed under gravity and became a sea stack, now separated from Fa Shan, known as Po Pin Chau.
When you visit the High Island Geo Trail – Po Pin Chau Section, you can view the eroded hexagonal volcanic rock columns and the pebble beach at Kim Chu Wan. From a high vantage point, you can enjoy views of the East Dam and High Island Reservoir. The iconic view of Po Pin Chau, complete with a panoramic sea backdrop, awaits you at the viewing platform at the end of the trail.
The cliffs have been shaped by years of weathering. Please follow waymarks and stay on maintained path. Do not cross the barriers to ensure your safety!
