Search the Internet for the “Hong Kong Karuizawa”, “Sky Mirror” or “Little Guilin in Hong Kong” in Chinese, all you get will be the beautiful scenery of Lau Shui Heung. The name of Lau Shui Heung has been recorded in the Gazetteer of Xin’an County during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty as early as two centuries ago for the gurgling of the flow of water to the place. The place where Bald Cypress (Taxodium distichum) and Water Pine (Glyptostrobus pensilis) are located now was overgrown with weeds more than a decade ago. The Paper-bark Trees (Melaleuca cajuputi subsp. cumingiana) in the back were planted when the reservoir was built. Ten years ago, Country Parks staff elaborately designed and planted Bald Cypress and Water Pine here . Every year in December and January, their leaves would change into their autumn clothes and turn red, orange, yellow and brown. The row of scattered red leaves and the beautiful scenery interwoven with the reflection in the water are poetic and picturesque, whether appreciating the reflection of red leaves on the viewing platform of the opposite bank or being in it. Nature is so simple and pure. Just the reflection of a row of trees and a reservoir are all that takes to make your day.

Don’ts
Don’t climb the vines of White-flowered Derrises (Derris alborubra) along the way
